Christmas in Santa Fe

In the Fall of 2024, my longtime friend and colleague Timothy Myers asked me for some material for his new publishing company, Ascenda. So I started to arrange quartets for the upcoming Christmas season.
Once I started, I couldn’t seem to stop! Before I knew it, I had enough music for another Christmas Trombone album. (and I use the word album loosely!)
Of course once written, I wanted to record them all. And over the next 12 months I did just that.
In November of ’24, I went to St. Louis and recorded Oh Christmas Tree/Silent Night, and Variations on Deck the Halls, with my old colleagues. (They’re not old, I am!)
Fast forward to summer ’25, and I took advantage of The Santa Fe Opera bones, as well as some wonderful full time New Mexico residents, to record 15 more tunes. Last but certainly not least,
in November or ’25, I sent God Rest Ye to the “new” section in St. Louis, and they took care of the final track. And there we were, 18 new arrangements for trombone quartet.
So you have an unusual mix of players and time periods, all combining to make Christmas in Santa Fe come to life. I hope that wherever you spend your Holidays, you’ll find something here that you enjoy. If you know me, you’ll find it’s quite a mix of styles, enough to fill all your stockings with a few left over.
May music fill the air, this and every season!
