Turquoise Trail-The byway to many tones

Ten recordings in a little over ten years, and this time, I wrote everything. You may be surprised by what you hear, I can pretty much assure that you will. But is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Would you think a bass trombone player would have wall to wall, non stop trombones? Or do you have any idea what you’d expect from a career slush pumper?

I dare say it’s quite possible that there has yet to be a recording from a back row denizen, such as myself.

I’d like to think that over a lifetime of playing and listening to music, I have some notes stuck in my head, struggling to get out. What would such music sound like, what style or styles would someone use?

I guess the answer lies in the listening, and what you might hear, when you give the recording a listen.

I know what I think, what I don’t know is what you think. And I’d really like to. In performing, you find out what your audience thinks when you stop playing. They either applaud your efforts, or it’s deadly silent.

But with a recording, I won’t know what anyone thinks, unless they listen to it, AND tell you their thoughts about it.

And that’s a tall order. There is so much thrown at us every day, so many things screaming for our attention. It can be so hard to go through a day without the constant knock on the door of our lives, hey, I’d like to show you this, would you take a look at that, please buy these. Into that background, how does an effort like mine get your time?

Well lets start with this, it’s not a “cold call”. You know me, or you wouldn’t be reading this now. So I’m asking you to take a moment, perhaps as a favor, maybe just because you’ve heard something from me in the past, and there’s been a little trust built. Take a second. If you don’t like it, you move on. But perhaps you’ll be interested. Maybe you’ll be intrigued. There’s the chance you’ll actually like it, and don’t we all enjoy finding a new cafe to get some really tasty food, or a new series on Netflix?

Be brave, take a moment. It’s just a few seconds to find out. You can always go back to what you’ve been doing. Maybe you’ll add something new to your listening library, I may surprise you. Maybe you’ll surprise yourself.

When all is said and done, I’m asking a lot from you. I’m asking for your time. Your attention. You have so many things coming at you, all the time. Is this just one more? Or is this the little cafe you’re so glad you stopped at, and you look forward to coming back often, now that you’ve tried it?

I can’t answer that question. But you can. Come on, take a moment, be brave. It’s no calorie, non habit forming. Unless you like it, then….
